Phase One: Private Residence Tree Removal |
| •
|
The Powell Tree Care was selected as the business to remove infested Village trees. |
• |
The Village has negotiated terms of the contract. |
• |
These rates are locked in until 2011 and increase thereafter at a rate equivalent to the annual Consumer Price Index. |
• |
The Village will utilize available grant money and the Solid Waste and Beautification Fund for the removal of public trees. |
• |
Residents will be charged: |
|
• $25.50 per inch for a tree 0-10" in diameter |
| |
• $32.50 per inch for a tree 10.1" - 15" in diameter. |
| |
• $50.00 per inch for a tree 15.1" - 25" in diameter |
| |
• $62.50 per inch for a tree 25.1" - 30" in diameter |
| |
• 30.1" and above to be specifically estimated ($200 minimum show up charge) |
• |
An additional (maximum) $80.00 man-hour fee may be charged in difficult cases. |
• |
Prices are calculated according to the diameter of the tree at breast height (DBH). |
• |
The Village has the ability to declare an EAB infested tree a nuisance and compel the property owner to remove the tree. |
• |
Property owners will not be forced to use the businesses that have negotiated rates. |
| |
|
| |
Phase Two: Private Residence Replacement Program |
• |
The Village has negotiated a program with St. Aubin's Nursery to grow an exclusive stock for the Village.
|
• |
St. Aubin's will plant 500 trees at their nursery each year from 2007 - 2011. These trees will be the property of, and owned by the Village. |
• |
2012-2016, St. Aubin's will harvest between 400 and 600, 4" diameter trees annually. |
• |
Should the EAB not impact the Village as anticipated, surplus trees may be sold by the Village to residents or other municipalties. |
• |
When the Emerald Ash Borer strikes, the costs associated with tree removal and replacement are expected to increase significantly. |
• |
Residents may purchase St. Aubin's replacement trees at the Village resident discounted price. |
• |
The total cost for a replacement 4" tree (to purchase and plant) in 5 years is $568, (plus a minimal cost for inflation). |
• |
An additional fee for planting the tree will be calculated by adding $0.50 per foot from the sidewalk to the location of the new tree. |
• |
Property owners will not be forced to use the businesses that have negotiated rates. |
