Community Paint-A-Thon

The Community Paint-a-thon assists low-income seniors and/or disabled persons who are unable to paint their homes themselves. Valspar Coatings, in cooperation with local organizations, sponsors this event throughout the northwest suburbs. Valspar donates all the paint and equipment. Volunteers are needed to paint the homes. Applications are usually available from April through June each year. Paint Day is typically in September. To volunteer or to see if you qualify to have your home painted, contact the Community Service Office at (847) 357-4120 or by e-mail at lblair@elkgrove.org.

Make A Difference Day
WINGS - Women in Need Growing Stronger helps homeless and abused women and children by providing a continuum of integrated services. They provide safe, secure living environments, from emergency shelter to transitional housing, that allow women to go to school, work and to care for themselves and their children. WINGS opened their emergency shelter within the northwest suburbs within the last year, a first of its kind in the immediate area. However, due to unexpected budget shortfalls, the shelter is operating without the ability to provide certain items for their clients.
The Community Service Board is sponsoring a collection drive to support the shelter. Items being collected include:
Infant items such as diapers, baby shampoo, baby wipes, Desitin, baby food, toiletry items such as antibacterial soap, cotton balls,
Q-Tips, feminine supplies and general cleaning supplies.
Please look for collection boxes throughout the Village and make this a successful MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY. For further information, you can call the Community Service Office at 847-357-4120.
